A few weeks ago, I stopped into Sid Mashburn to take a peek at their new fall stuff. While there I noticed quite a few new flannels, cords and jackets, one of which really caught my eye. A mashup between the Sid team and New England based Penfield, the Minooka jacket is limited-run quilted jacket drawn from the expansive 40-year archive of Penfield.
The jacket features a heavy-duty, but lightweight matte nylon outer (Olive and Navy) and contrasting lining, a nice brown corduroy collar, two angled patch pockets and patched chest pocket, leather-backed copper snaps to keep all of the heat in and double-button side vents. Penfield also let Sid and the design team take a look through the Penfield logos through the years and allowed them to pick a cool vintage logo that adds that extra touch to the jacket.
I can’t wait until the heat drops here in Texas, so that I can don this until the temps rise again. It will be nice in place of a blazer over a button down and tie with a pocket square in the chest pocket. With only 75 made in total, you might still be able to find a few in your nearest store or online. Make sure you get yours while you still can!
