Allen Edmonds Recrafting

I have been a fan of Allen Edmonds for years now and own a few pairs that I wear regularly. The high quality vs. price point ratio is exactly what I want in a pair of shoes. Plus, the lines and shapes are a classic staple.

I purchased these Tassel Loafers on eBay in 2014 for roughly $50. The uppers were in great shape except for a defect in the heel area, the soles were in good shape as well. After three years of wearing a these multiple times a week, it was time to send them back to Allen Edmonds for a recrafting. This was my first pair to send off to be recrafted, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect when getting them back. Here’s a look at the before and after.

Before

As you can see, the soles were pretty shot and the uppers were in dire need of some TLC.

These after pictures were taken after 4-5 wears and they are beginning to break in nicely. I could not be happier. I went with the Prestige Package, which included a complete restoration including new soles and heels plus AE shoe trees, shoe bags, and a tube of polish in my shoe color. The whole process took around 4 weeks. The total cost was around $150. I would say the recrafting was well worth it! If you are in need of a repair, I highly recommend sending your shoes in to see what kind of magic they can do.

Have you of you had any experience with the AE Recrafting process? How did it turn out? Leave a comment below. Also, I’d love to see some pics of the before and after. Tag me on Instagram (@jpdarnell) or send me an email with the pics.
